Poem: Finding Religion

Finding Religion

Lutheran and Lonely

Faces in a crowd

Not belonging

Weekly requirement

Is this devotion?

The Lost Years

Also known as

in Chico

Presbyterian: Scriptures and Elders

My pastor doesn’t like me

I don’t like his Easter music

Have twins will travel

My pastor likes me now

Reformed Lutheran

Everyone smiles

Anonymous parishioners all greet me

We sing, we worship

Joyful rejoicing

My boys get baptized

A “Christian Fellowship”

It’s not St. Matt’s

But it’s 30 minutes closer

My boys have friends

Way too much standing and singing

But the pastor rocks the sermons

And now he’s retiring
